Welcome to the M.S.O.I. website

Dedicated to Society Members and mill enthusiasts throughout Ireland and beyond, our Society's roots can be traced back to its launch in July 2001. Our first AGM took place in October of the same year at Kilbeggan, Co. Westmeath. This (not for profit) Society aims to promote interest and awareness of this particular aspect of Ireland's Industrial heritage, namely, milling.

Our Activities include:

  • Sharing views on restoration

  • Facilitating lecture tours

  • Publishing papers / articles

  • Pooling members' expertise

  • Promoting historical research
